How to Prepare Egg and Oil Emulsion
The process of making egg and oil emulsion to modify the characteristics of egg tempera paints.

Egg yolk
Linseed oil
White vinegar or clove oil


Separate 1 egg and reserve yolk. Add drops of linseed oil until an emulsion is formed. Add same amount of water and 10 drops of white vinegar.


This emulsion is more flexible as it allows slower drying time. Pre-mix the desired amount of dry pigments with the binder and paint.
